About AIMEC

what
we do

All India Muslim Educational Conference (AIMEC), established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in 1886, was a non-political platform uniting Muslim leaders and intellectuals for educational upliftment in the Indian subcontinent. AIMEC extended the Aligarh Movement, leading to the creation of numerous institutions, and oversaw MAO College’s elevation to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

It particularly championed women’s education through establishments like Zenana Madarsa (now AMU Women’s College). Esteemed figures associated with AIMEC included Mohsin-ul Mulk, Viqar-ul Mulk, Altaf Husain Hali, Sir Aga Khan, and Begum Sultan Jahan. In 1915, Sultan Jahan Manzil was constructed as AIMEC’s headquarters. Notably, AIMEC raised Rs. 30 lakhs under Sir Aga Khan’s leadership in 1912, securing AMU’s charter from the British parliament. Restoration efforts for Sultan Jahan Manzil are now underway, and AIMEC seeks community support for its revival. Let us stand by Sir Syed’s legacy and preserve this heritage. Join this mission; keep history alive.
